Growing a business can be very tasking and exhausting to say the least. But lately digital marketing and internet marketing have made things a little less stressful but also very demanding, yes very demanding and small scale business owners can find this very relatable.
Look at it this way, the internet is a big market place and everything you ever think of buying or selling is in this market place, how do you stand out and grow your shop, your customer base and your profit amongst all the other competitors?. There are proven ways this could be done and not to be afraid they are very easy and mostly at your beck and call.
1. Having a social media presence.
I think by now it’s no news how powerful social media has become in our world today. There is literally nothing you can’t get through social media and when I say nothing, growing your business is no exemption. Every big brand today have a social media presence. fashionova, Huda beauty,Nike etc all have a social media page across almost all social media platforms there is and they do this not because they just want to but because it helps them reach greater audience and potential clients which helps in the massive success of their brand.
As a small business or a new business it is very important to have a social media presence where you advertise your brand and interact with your audience. This can boast your business greatly.
2. Content creation
By now you’ve created social media pages across major social media platforms and what to post and be seen becomes the next big thing. This is where content creation comes in, in other to keep your audience fascinated and interested in your brand, you have to give them quality content to keep them glued. Some of these contents include high quality pictures and videos, good copy writings, good creative writing and content writing. Some brands hire social media managers, content creators and writers to do this.
3. Running paid ads
Ads is an acronym for Advertisement and if you intend growing your business online then you should know you can’t run from this bad guy. Over the years I’ve seen so many businesses take a good turn after running ads online. Google has a special tool for running ads for its users. There are people who specialize in running paid ads. Even social media platforms have ads features for its users they usually don’t cost much and for all it’s worth ads are super helpful to boast your business.
4. Influencing marketing
This is easily the most common form of online marketing today. You know how celebs and people with very good social media followings( the influencers) make post about a particular brand or product and services? Yes that is influencing marketing. These influencers or celebrities already have a platform, they have a good following and supporters so whatever they market has a good chance of selling out due to their influence online and sometimes offline. This can be a very helpful to small businesses and start ups. These influencers are paid by the brands they work with.
5. Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a form of digital marketing which has in-fact proven to be very excellent in not only growing small businesses but also a passive means of earning an income (i will make a blog post about it soon). Affiliate marketing is simply selling goods and services that aren’t directly yours and you earn a commission from any item or service sold. I know the part where I said “selling goods and services that aren’t directly yours” sounds a bit off being that this article is centered on business owners but affiliate marketing works for business owners because the business owners and product owners are the ones that create the affiliate programs and schemes. Often we see influencers and celebs advertising a product, service or even a brand and you’ll here things like
Use so so so code to get 50% off (as the case maybe) sometimes they refer you to use a link to get the product (that is simply affiliate marketing)the person marketing the brands services or product gets a commission when the product and services are purchased using their affiliate link.
You can create an affiliate program in your business where people earn commissions by helping you sell your goods and services.
6. Online store or website:
This can be called E-commerce store or website. We all are conversant with shopping online, Amazon, shien, Nike, Fenty beauty, Jumia etc are all E-commerce brands, they all have websites or online stores as the case maybe where customers/clients shop from. These websites contains every detail about the various products and services the brands offer , how to get these products and services, purchasing pages, reviews etc. having a website can be a good way for your business to appear authentic and put together and it also saves you the constant pressure of replying to Direct messages. A good website should be user friendly, easily accessible and well detailed. A website would be a real good boast to your business online.
7. Authenticity, quality and honesty:
I know these are very strong facts because no matter how much you advertise your business if your product and services are a copy of someone else’s work, not reliable, fake, or isn’t a solution to the pain point of your potential client then your business won’t grow! As much as the market today is saturated and it’s almost impossible to start a business that doesn’t already exist, you can have your own uniqueness in your line of business. It could be your means of marketing, your customer services, the product or service etc but being authentic, investing in the quality of the product or service you offer can do wonders for the growth of your business online and even offline.
8. Consistency:
I know you probably saw this coming and as a business owner you have heard the word consistency more often than you hoped for but the truth is their is so much life changing achievements that lies in CONSISTENCY. you have to show up even when you don’t feel the need to, when you haven’t started seeing your results and success, you have to keep showing up even when you start seeing result's. Being seen is a key to growing your business online! If no one sees you or you pop up one’s in a blue moon you won’t get the audience you need nor the following or engagements that is right for your growth. Post often but don’t spam, have a credible content timetable, make good quality videos, use hashtags, hop on helpful trends and topics just show up!.
9. Give offers
From time to time you can make offers like giveaways, discount sales, slash price sales, competitions etc. people leverage these opportunities to patronize businesses, so it is very advisable and a key way to grow your audience and customers base.
The market changes constantly for each aspect of business and it’s left for you to discover what works for your line of business but I assure you that these few points are very key to online business growth, they work when done rightly. Nothing should scare you from bringing your business online because the internet is the biggest thing we have at our disposal and benefiting from it should be a goal.
