 Fashion fashion fashion!!! The most relevant term since the beginning of time. There's nobody that doesn't want to look good and be told they look good, personally I relate so deeply to this saying 'I'm nicer when I like my outfit" because there's this feeling of content, confidence and fancy that comes with looking good and I'm sure you can relate too.

 

Styling an outfit to look fashionable can be nerve wrecking even the most fashionable person with all the fashionable clothing items have those "I don't know what to wear" days so it's normal. Fashion is all about putting different clothing items together to make one fabulous look. As simple as that sounds, to most persons it's not all roses and peaches, that is why celebrities hire stylist,wardrobe managers and designers to coordinate their outfit of choice.

Not to worry you don't have to be a celebrity, hire a stylist, break the bank or even have the most clothes to pull up a fashionable look. I'm a minimalist and I'm heavy on LESS IS MORE especially in fashion, you don't have to do too much to look fashionable unless its called for or you're attending the MET GALA.

And as a lady looking like "THAT GIRL" is so essential I can't stress it and because I know this I've summed up a list of wardrobe essentials to help you with your styling and fashion journey in 2022.

Leather/latex clothes.

This is a statement piece of clothing, you probably own one and treat it like just a regular clothing piece which in retrospect you might be correct but I'm here to enlighten you on the fabulousness of this piece. 


 
It could be a latex leggings, jacket, dress, pants or even skirt. There's always something outstanding about the material and that makes it unique. Just like the reference picture above, the lady didn't do much infact she's dressed in a casual outfit but two things elevated this look and one of it is the latex leggings she's wearing. Take this as a sign to get a latex piece today.

2. Office pant

Office pants can come in different styles and pattern and that's what makes it so chick, it could be flare, Palazzo, or fitted, whatever style of office pant you prefer still serves the look it should.

Office pants can be paired with shirts, fitted tops and even jackets, it can be styled as a cooperate look or even a casual look, there's truly no limit to how you can style an office pant, it's a statement piece and a must have too.

3. Black dress

The saying "you can never go wrong with black" is no front dearie it is facts, the darker the dress the better. There is no right amount of black dress one should own. If you're starting to build up your wardrobe, you can start with getting just basic and simple black dresses as much as you deem fit then you become spontaneous in your black dress shopping, you can go for more patterned,details and style.



Never have my black dresses failed me, if I'm out of options and ideas on what to wear I know I could easily put on one of my black dresses and still look fabulous, whenever other dresses fail me, my black dress comes to the rescue and she kills it Everytime. So go ahead sis buy as much black dresses as your bank account can permit.

4. Blazer 

Well yes! This OG made it to my list, blazers have been elevating outfits since the early 90s. There are pictures of Marilyn Monroe in blazers, even your favorite celebrities rock this wardrobe essential quite often. Blazers can turn even the most casual outfit to look classy.

It can be worn as a cooperate wear and also a casual outfit, blazer is that one statement piece that can give business and pleasure in one look and without doubt that is what we want. You can wear them alone or pair it with other clothing like gowns,shirts,tops, pants etc.  





As you can see for yourself you can style this bad boy anyhow you want and it will still looks great! So get your wardrobe a blazer or blazers and you'll be grateful you did.

5. Scarf

Yes! You read right, You need to own a scarf or scarfs as the case maybe in your wardrobe in 2022. Scarf is that minutia piece of clothing that when used correctly can become a game changer in your fashion game. Scarf can be used in so many ways 
It can be used as a head tie/scarf
 
Just like the babushka scarf trend that made a wave in 2018 all thanks to Asap Rocky, we saw how a piece of clothing tied on the head could make one look dapper.



Scarfs can be worn like clothes,neck scarfs, they can be used to style your simple button down shirt,

It can also be used as an accessory for your bags and also your hair! Amazing right?

So when you're making a shopping list for your wardrobe include scarfs, you will be glad you did.


6. White shirts (plain)

There's something about styling a white shirt that screams CLASSY!!. It could go with anything literally anything, be it a pant, a denim shirt or pant, a skirt, a blazer, a jacket, even a scarf can go with a white shirt (precisely a button down shirt)


An oversized white shirt can be used as a jacket or a dress.








Get you a white shirt today, it goes perfectly with denim pants too. It is a necessity and not an option.

7. Denim pants, shorts and skirts

I know you saw this one coming and as you know denim clothes has always been fashionable, it has always been a very versatile piece of clothing and by any means necessary it must make it to this list.

For this list, I'll be emphasing on denim pants, shorts and shirts. In recent times we now see that skinny jeans aren't as rampart as they used to be, rather flare jeans, Palazzo jeans and mom jeans are really giving us a run for our money. It's almost impossible to see someone who doesn't own a denim clothing, that makes it the most popular on this list.
  





Denim pants shorts and skirts are very affordable but if you have more coins to spend on them the better for you. High quality jeans are more expensive that basic jeans and they tend to last longer unlike the cheaper ones that fade over time. And yes you can style this piece anyhow you wish.

8. Heels

Heels had to make it to this list one way or the other. This particular item is not for everyone because I know some ladies are more of the sneakers and flats girl and that is perfectly fine, if you're a flat or sneakers girl you can still look fashionable while wearing that all you have to do is invest in quality sneakers and loafers/ballet flats and take good care of them.

Back to my heel girls, if you can wear a heel then I see no reason you shouldn't own one or more. Even if you are not so sure you can walk on a heel shoe, you can start from the smallest inches then you progress, good thing is that there are heels like kitten heels which are very small but very classy. Heels can turn any outfit to be elegant. With heels, you have to be picky when choosing a heel shoe. I personally prefer slipper heels, strap heels and sandal heel to any other type of heel shoe but that is just my preference you can do what works for you.




There's something tricky about heels, a wrong heel can make your outfit and you appear tacky but the right kind of heels when paired with a nice outfit makes you look very gorgeous so be smart when choosing heels but know that they complement literally any outfit.

9. Jewelry and Accessories

Jewelry and accessories can instantly take your outfit from 0 to 100. Just wearing a belt on a dress or shirt can turn a casual look to a more regal and sophisticated look, that is how much of an elevation to your fashion game an accessory and jewelry can do for you.

Jewelries like earrings, necklaces, chokers, rings, bracelets, cufflinks, brooches and lapel pins can magnify an outfit.



While accessories like mini bags(this is also an essential item your wardrobe needs) , handbags, belts, hair accessories, Berets, studs, glasses(sun glasses), gloves, purses, wristwatches, pendant etc Compliments your outfit. Include accessories and jewelries in your wardrobe collection this year and  step up your fashion game.

10. Perfume

I could have easily included perfume in the accessory list but this important accessory had to have an honorable mention.

Another reason why you should consider perfume as a necessary accessory, is that perfumes are known to transform impressions into memories. Memories of your perfume lingers on, even long after you've left a particular scent. If you're going to dress the part from this 2022 upwards, you have to smell the part too.


Perfumes are very affordable and portable not to say there aren't pricy ones but you can always start small then build up your collection. You can't be fashionable if you don't smell good. I promise you someone can forget your outfit but one thing someone won't forget is How good you smell or how bad you smell and the latter shouldn't be your case. When you smell good, you feel good and you will attract positive genuine compliments. 

11. Summer dresses

Summer dresses are a must have. You need a simple dress to be at your Beck and call and most importantly it makes you look very gorgeous. 
They can come in different colors and styles and even length. The good part of these dresses is that they can be styled with other clothing items and accessories and it can switch up the look.



Get as many summer dresses as you can afford, it makes you look fancy and enhances your femininity, it's the perfect date night, casual brunch, friendship date or wedding outfit, summer dresses are typical jack of all trades and you need them in your wardrobe today.


Fashion evolves with time but some things still stay relevant in fashion no matter the time. It's safe to say that this list is full of timeless fashion pieces and very versatile pieces too. Someone with a good fashion sense can make even the most casual outfit look classy. There's a picture of Rihanna wearing a pyjamas outside and it looked so right because she paired it with the right accessories and wore it in a very stylish manner, I'm not saying you should wear a pyjamas outside unless you can pull the look then it's fine but all I'm trying to say is you can look fashionable in any outfit as long as you wear it correctly and style it correctly.
